Grey Cattle and Mangalitsa farm
Grey Cattle and Mangalitsa farm
It is situated at about 14 kilometers on the way to Tölgyes from Ditro on the Cengellér hill-top. The Csend Volgye (Silent Valley) company which established the farm found that this mountain pasture is the most suitable for breeding gray cattle. The seeds for the current breeding stock of 35 cows are assured by a bull, but all together with the calves, the grey cattle herd from the Cengeller hill-top consists in about fifty animals. The development plan includes the stock breeding: therefore remains the breeding, but keeping the bloodline pure. However the gray beef calves from Ditró are only merchandised inland: the animals are mostly accounted in Cluj Napoca, Covasna, but the Harghita county commoners are interested, too. The animals are moving free from summer to winter. They survive with no problems the cold on twenty degrees minus (Celsius).
